Maintaining a good VCU GPA
- VCUarts portfolio is the admission lever. Direct admit to VCUarts requires a strong creative portfolio reviewed by faculty. The GPA can run lower (3.3+) if the portfolio is exceptional. Reverse holds: weak portfolio + strong GPA gets denied.
- Honors College admit cluster runs 3.7+. VCU Honors offers smaller seminar classes, research stipends, and priority registration. The Honors application is separate from the main VCU app, with November 1 priority deadline.
- Nursing direct admit needs 3.5+ + sciences. Direct admit to VCU Nursing from high school requires 3.5+ unweighted plus completion of biology, chemistry, and anatomy at the high school level. The College of Health Professions is one of VCU's strongest pipelines.
