How Ohio State recalculates GPA for admission

Maintaining a good OSU GPA
- Eminence Fellows is OSU's flagship full-ride. The Eminence Fellows Scholarship covers full tuition, room, and board for selective admits, typically requiring 4.0 unweighted, top-decile class rank, 1450+ SAT, and a leadership essay. Apply by November 1.
- Honors program is by separate application. The OSU Honors program requires a 3.5+ unweighted GPA, but admission is competitive and reviewed alongside an essay and curriculum rigor. Roughly 25% of admitted Honors applicants are accepted.
- Forgiveness petition exists for repeat grades. OSU's grade forgiveness policy allows a student to repeat up to 3 courses where they earned D or E (F), with only the new grade counting in cumulative GPA. The original grade stays on transcript with a notation.
