Maintaining a good UMD GPA
- Smith Business direct admit requires 4.2+ recalculated. If you don't direct-admit to Smith from high school, sophomore-year application requires 3.5+ in pre-business prereqs (BMGT 220, ECON 200, MATH 220). The internal transfer admit rate sits around 50%.
- Banneker/Key is the prestige in-state scholarship. Banneker/Key covers full tuition + room + board for selective Maryland residents. Requires top-decile class rank, 4.0+ unweighted, 1500+ SAT, and a finalist interview weekend in February.
- UMD Honors College has separate invitation. Roughly the top 25% of admits get invited to one of 8 living-learning Honors programs (ACES, Gemstone, Honors Humanities, etc.). Each program has its own application within the broader Honors invitation.
